چکیده
The land-sea interface is considered as a threatening environment due to anthropogenic development activities. Unplanned developments can cause effects on important ecosystems, water and human health well. In this study, the influence of rapid regional accumulation trace elements sediments an ecosystem, Batticaloa lagoon, Sri Lanka was examined. Surface sediment pollution status ecological risk compared with that recent sedimentary history about 1 m depth. Sediment core samples were collected analyzed for grain size, organic matter carbonate contents (As, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni Cr) by X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) technique. chemical results recently published data surface same project evaluated load index (PLI), potential (PERI) quality guidelines (SQG). Except Cr, all other in cores show lower concentrations than SQGs confirming high Cr recorded most Lankan sediments. indicate unpolluted, low sampling locations, whereas lagoon are less polluted risk. Present practices illiteracy developing region damage green hence environmental management planning suggested sustainable future.

Since the early 1990s this view changed with the recognition of autochthonous cutaneous leishmaniasis. The first documented case in 1992 was a young man from Ambalantota who initially gave a history of contact with dry zone jungle but later denied this history (1). This was followed a few years later by a number of cases from different parts of the island. The second and third case reports were...
